Instruction and performances on Hammered Dulcimer in Memphis, Tennessee
BETTY DAWSON has played the hammered dulcimer for 15 years. She took lessons in Kentucky, and was an active member of the Louisville Dulcimer Society, where she learned many of the old standards, led jam sessions and enjoyed playing gigs with LDS, especially for the Kentucky Derby attendees. Since moving back home to Memphis, Betty now teaches hammered dulcimer in the Memphis area and has teamed up with Lee Cagle on mountain dulcimer to form the dulcimer duo, "Butterfly Gap." Betty is active in jam sessions and folk events in the area and currently serves as Chair of the Advisory Committee for The Memphis Dulcimer Gathering, Inc.
Betty is also an authorized dealer for Master Works Hammered Dulcimers and accessories in the Mid-South region.
